ISL 2018: Sumeet Passi and Farukh Choudhary sign 2-year extensions at Jamshedpur FC
Indian front-men Sumeet Passi and Farukh Choudhary have both signed a new deal at Jamshedpur FC, keeping them at the club for the next two editions of the ISL.
Passi emphasized on the fruitful season he had at Jamshedpur FC and elucidated the aspects that helped him make the decision to pen the extension with the Tata Group franchise.
“We had a decent debut season and I really loved playing for Jamshedpur FC. The management and coaching staff was always so supportive. Everyone knows that I was sidelined due to injury for a long time and I received full support from the club," said Passi.
"We will obviously aim to do better next season and go a step further. The overall objective always will be to win the Indian Super League,” he said.
Having made 15 appearances for Jamshedpur FC, Farukh Choudhary helped his team wrap up their debut season at the fifth position on the ISL points table, missing out on qualifying for the semis by a whisker. The striker was pleased to have committed his future to Jamshedpur FC.
“The Tata Group has been one of the biggest contributors to the development of a wide range of sports in India for decades," said Farukh. "The infrastructure and management is top class. They took exceptional care of our every need in our first season.”
With the ISL season over, Jamshedpur FC will now look for good performances in the Super Cup, which is set to get underway on March 31 in Bhubaneswar.
While they are set to face Minerva Punjab on April 2, the I-League champions have threatened to pull out of the tournament, if the All India Football Federation does not release their funds in time. While these funds have recently been promised to Minerva, it remains to be seen whether they actually pull out of the tournament or not.
