ISL: Chennai franchise in talks with Ronaldinho
The Chennai franchise of the Indian Super League is in talks with Ronaldinho to be their marquee foreigner according to a Hindu report.
Ronaldinho is currently a free player and his brother and agent Roberto de Assis is reportedly negotiating a contract with the Chennai franchise, which will soon be officially named as Chennai Titans.
Chennai replaced Bangalore as ISL’s eighth city franchise and were represented by Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan in the new league’s official launch in Mumbai on Thursday.
The report says that Ronaldinho is looking for a short-term contract so that he can play in USA’s MLS early next year. He was reportedly negotiating terms with Brazilian club Palmeiras but that didn’t materialise.
Two-time FIFA Player of the Year and 2002 World Cup winner Ronaldinho is immensely popular in India and even the news that he is in talks with an ISL franchise will surely excite his followers.
