ISL: John Abraham travels to Shillong to personally invite NEUFC fans
15th October, 2014: John Abraham, co-owner of NorthEast United FC displayed immense commitment to his team when he travelled to Shillong to personally invite the fans of NorthEast United FC to come in large numbers and root for their favourite team in the Hero ISL by filling the stadiums with the sound of their powerful support.
“Our team is the youngest team in the league, I urge all the supporters of the NEUFC to come to the stadiums and cheer our players as your love and support will surely give them confidence and the additional incentive to spur them on to perform their best and win this Hero ISL.”
NEUFC has a vital partnership with Shillong Lanjong, the Indian professional men’s football club which participates in the I-league. Larsing Ming, secretary of Shillong Lajong co-owns NorthEast United FC and the Indian Coach of the team Thangboi Singto and many of the NEUFC players are from the Shillong Lanjong Football Club.
John Abraham recognises the significance of this and comments, “I have come to Shillong as I wanted to come to the heart of our fan base. The football fans here have been supporting our players through their careers in the Shillong Lanjong FC. I want to personally invite all of them to now show their support as these boys embark on this new exciting journey of the Hero ISL.”
The management is confident of full stadiums for all the 7 home matches that the team will play and with this the NEUFC march on confidently towards the tournament assured of their fans backing them up with their following.
