ISL 2017: David James praises Kerala Blasters fans
What's the story?
David James, the newly appointed Kerala Blasters manager ready for his second stint at the club has praised the supporters for their continuous support over the years and for the atmosphere, they create in the ground on matchdays.
In case you didn't know
David James was the manager in the capacity of player-manager of Kerala in the first season of the Indian Super League and helped the team reach the final of the tournament where they lost to Atletico de Kolkata.
David James was recently hired as a manager for the Sachin Tendulkar-owned side after the Kochi-based side decided to part ways with Rene Meulensteen due to the poor performances of the team in this season of the ISL. Kerala only had 7 points in 7 games prior to the Englishman's arrival.
The heart of the matter
After assuming the role of the manager, James in one of his interviews said that he still tells everyone about his first stint at the clubs and is still in awe of the atmosphere the fans create in the stadium.
When asked about what he is looking forward to this season, he replied "Yeah! I've been following the team, and you know, just in my head, I can't imagine, it's strange. But of course, I will have to imagine the noise of the Kerala Blasters fans. I tell people all the time about the experiences I had (in my first stint at the club). I know, it's impossible to recreate what the atmosphere is like actually in the stadium."
What next?
David James would be looking for better performances from his team in the remaining matches of the season in a hope of qualifying for the knockout stages starting with Kerala's match against Delhi Dynamos on Wednesday.
