ISL: Delhi Dynamos FC vs NorthEast United FC - Player Ratings
Delhi Dynamos hosted NorthEast United FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi. Both the teams played attractive football but failed to score a single goal yielding a 0-0 draw. While NorthEast dominated the proceedings, Dynamos had the better opportunities in the match. Overall it was an entertaining match.
Here’s a look at how each player fared in this highly anticipated clash.
Delhi Dynamos
The 6 ft 10 inches goalkeeper was as usual good between the sticks for Delhi Dynamos. The Belgian custodian pulled off a few good saves and was instrumental in stopping the boys from NorthEast from scoring any goal.
Adil Khan: 5/10
Adil Khan made his debut for Delhi Dynamos in yesterday’s match against NorthEast United FC. Irrespective of being a defensive midfielder, Delhi coach Harm van Veldhoven fielded Adil in the right-back position. Adil never looked to have adjusted to his new role, and was guilty on many an occasion of allowing Tomas Josl of NorthEast to operate freely down his flank.
Anwar Ali: 7/10
It was an average day in the office for the India international. Anwar Ali has been performing consistently throughout the tournament and is one of many notable Indian faces in the Hero Indian Super League. Along with Wim Raymakers, he has formed a compact back line for the Delhi brigade. Anwar defended well in the match except for a few minor mistakes.
Wim Raymaekers: 8/10
Wim Raymaekers is possibly the best foreign center back in the Indian Super League. He has been flawless and a consistent player in the backline of Delhi Dynamos. He was instrumental in yesterday’s game as well and it is because of his leadership that NorthEast United failed to score a goal.
Souvik Ghosh: 7/10
Souvik performed well yesterday. He was never tested properly as Zodingliana Ralte was a complete flop in the right winger role. Most of the NorthEast’s attacks were generated from the right side of the Delhi defense through Tomas Josl.
Steven Dias: 7.5/10
Steven Dias worked hard in the midfield as well as down the wings. He floated quite a few dangerous crosses down the right wing which if converted could have yielded them 3 points. Dias, at the age of 30 is still a tireless warrior and has contributed to Delhi’s attacks very well.
Hans Mulder: 8.5/10
Hans Mulder was undoubtedly the best player in yesterday’s game. He worked very hard in the midfield, and contributed towards Delhi’s good performance on the field. He was also awarded the Hero of the Match.
Bruno Arrias: 7/10
Bruno Arrias was impressive in patches and created many chances. He created good moves down the middle and his back flicks were especially attractive. The Spaniard along with Mulder was instrumental in helping Delhi Dynamos FC create quality attacking moves.
Shylo Malsawmtluanga: 6.5/10
Shylo Malsawmtluanga or Mama worked hard in the left-wing position. He created quite a few chances for Del Piero and Mads Junker but was not very successful in finishing. Mama has to work hard on his finishing which is actually harming his team.
Mads Junker: 5.5/10
Mads Junker did not perform as per his reputation. Junker is known to score many goals but yesterday was not his best day in the office. Junker missed easy sitters in front of the goal, which includes his miss from very close range from a brilliant cross of Steven Dias.
Alessandro Del Piero: 7/10
Alessandro Del Piero featured in the match for just 55 minutes owing to his age and lack of fitness. He is no more fit enough to play 90 minutes every day, but whatever time he spent on the pitch, he was impeccable. The Delhi fans were fortunate enough to see Del Piero’s trademark flicks, skills and mesmerising moves.
Substitutes
Gustavo Dos Santos: 3/10
Gustavo Dos Santos was the most disappointing player in Delhi colours. After scoring a brilliant solo goal in the last game much was expected from the Brazilian. He came in place of Del Piero but could not even replicate half of what the Italian legend did. Dos Santos was selfish and easily marked by Aiborlang Khongjee and never looked dangerous.
Naoba Singh: N/A
Naoba Singh came late replacing Adil Khan. Naoba had very little role to play thus his show was not very important.
Morten Skoubo: N/A
Same as Naoba Singh, Morten Skoubo came on late in the second half and thus did not have any impact on the game.
NorthEast United FC
Rehenesh T.P: 8/10
Rehenesh played his third game for NorthEast United FC and was very impressive under the bar. The Lajong keeper pulled off many crucial saves and saved his team. He is improving match by match and becoming a reliable first choice goalkeeper.
Aiborlang Khongjee: 7/10
The Lajong defender has adapted very well to the right-back role. He is defending well and overlapping when necessary. Yesterday too Aibor provided his reliability in defence and was instrumental in blocking Dos Santos in the second half.
Massamba Sambou: 7.5/10
The Senegalese defender made his debut in Indian Super League in place of Joan Capdevila. Sambou had a satisfactory debut as he was successful in maintaining a clean sheet. He defended well and also went up to attack on a few occasions and his physicality was especially appealing.
Miguel Garcia: 7.5/10
Miguel Garcia as usual was good at his role and performed his defensive duties well. Garcia along with Sambou had an impressive day at the office as they managed to keep a clean sheet.
Robin Gurung: 7/10
The entire defensive unit of NorthEast United FC looked composed last night and Robin Gurung was no exception. Gurung defended well and overlapped to support the wingers when required.
Tomas Josl: 8/10
Tomas Josl is a versatile footballer. He can play as a left back as well as a winger. Josl played brilliantly last night generating many chances down the wing. Almost 90% of NorthEast’s attacks were generated from Josl’s side and he was the best player for NorthEast United last night.
Felipe De Castro: 7.5/10
Felipe De Castro replaced Koke in the midfield. Although Koke’s absence was felt, De Castro too did not disappoint Ricki Herbert. He was creative, kept possession and initiated vital moves.
Zodingliana Ralte: 4/10
Yesterday was possibly the worst display of this young winger. Zodingliana Ralte featured from the right side, which might have affected his game. He was very less active in the game, hardly generated any move and was absent from the game most of the times.
Kondwani Mtonga: 7.5/10
Kondwani Mtonga is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Indian Super League. He played well last night performing his defensive duties as well as helping the attackers upfront and is proving to be a great asset to the team.
Durga Boro: 6/10
Durga Boro operated from the central midfield role alongside Felipe De Castro. He had an average day, missing quite a few easy chances, often fumbled with the ball, thus giving away possession and failed to create any positive chance.
James Keene: 7/10
James Keene played well last night, proving to be a threat on many occasions in the Delhi penalty box. Unfortunately he was caught offside most of the times and Van Hout saved on few occasions.
Substitutes
Leo Bertos: 5.5/10
The New Zealand World Cupper replaced Josl in the second half. He operated from the attacking midfield zone but his attacks were not fruitful. His slow movements and missed opportunities did not help his team much.
Seminlen Doungel: 5.5/10
Len operated from the right-wing in last night’s game. He is fast and energetic but lacks finishing. Yesterday too, he failed to perform as per expectation. His speedy runs down the wings were not very useful.
Luis Padilla: N/A
Luis Padilla came late on replacing James Keene and did not have much impact on the game.
