Ivory Coast announce 28-man provisional squad for the FIFA World Cup 2014

World Cup squad announcement has been the talk of the hour as several teams have disclosed their lineups for the upcoming summer tournament  in Brazil. And the African nation of Ivory Coast have followed up with their 28-man provisional squad for the FIFA World Cup 2014.

Manager Sabri Lamouchi has revealed his selected list of players which does not include Galatasaray right back Emmanuel Eboue. He has opted to go for current Arsenal target and Gunners fan Serge Aurier.

The colossal figure of Yaya Toure will  feature in Les Elephants’ midfield while Newcastle United’s Cheick Tiote gets his chance to fly to Brazil.

Yaya Toure‘s brother Kolo Toure will lead the back line as usual and Arthur Boka of Stuttgart is expected to be his centre back partner.

Ivory Coast’s impressive forward line includes veteran striker Didier Drogba, Wilfred Bony of Swansea, Gervinho of Roma and CSKA Moscow’s Seydou Doumbia.

Ivory Coast have been placed in an even group with Colombia, Greece and Japan. They begin their journey in Brazil against Japan on June 14.

Defenders: Kolo Touré (Liverpool), Bamba Souleyman (Trabzonspor), Jean Daniel Akpa Akpro (Toulouse), Arthur Boka (Stuttgart), Serge Aurier (Toulouse), Brice Dja Djédjé (Marseille), Didier Zokora (Trabzonspor), Benjamin Angoua Brou (Valenciennes), Ousman Vieira (Caykur Rizespor).

Midfielders: Cheick Tioté (Newcastle), Yaya Touré (Manchester City), Ndri Romaric (Bastia), Max-Alain Gradel (St Etienne), Ismaël Diomandé (St Etienne), Didier Ya Konan (Hannover 96), Constant Djakpa (Eintracht Frankfurt), Geoffroy Serey Dié (Basel).

Strikers: Wilfried Bony (Swansea), Didier Drogba (Galatasaray), Gervinho (Roma), Giovanni Sio (Basel), Seydou Doumbia (CSKA Moscow), Lacina Traoré (Monaco), Salomon Kalou (Lille).
