Jamie Redknapp: AVB’s Spurs success last season was down to Harry Redknapp
The Metro report that Jamie Redknapp has hit out at former Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas, saying that he only did well because he inherited the squad Jamie’s father Harry Redknapp left behind.
Harry Redknapp was sacked as manager of Spurs in 2012 allowing Villas-Boas to move in a take the managerial hot seat at White Hart Lane.
Jamie, now a Sky pundit after playing for Spurs and Liverpool as a player, criticised AVB, who was sacked as manager this morning.
“Let’s be honest, after the job he did at Chelsea he was lucky to get that job in the first place,” said Redknapp.
“When he was at Chelsea he had a nightmare and then they won the Champions League without him, and then he finds himself at Tottenham with that squad with [Luka] Modric, [Gareth] Bale and players like that.
“Last year he did well with the previous manager’s [Harry Redknapp's] team. Now he has had his chance to do it, it hasn’t worked out for him.”
