Jamie Vardy to undergo a minor surgery due to a groin problem
Leicester City star Jamie Vardy is set to miss the FA Cup tie against Tottenham next week due to a groin problem, The Premier League top scorer is set to undergo a minor surgery and is likely to be sidelined for a week at least.
The news comes as a huge blow to the Foxes who were banking on Vardy’s form to keep them in the title race and they would hope that he returns to face Tottenham again in the league on January 13th.

However, Leicester have not commented on the situation yet and will be hoping that this operation will relieve a build up of pressure on his groin. Vardy has enjoyed a scintillating season with the foxes and they are currently in pursuit of Arsenal, who are two points ahead at the top of the table. He has played a significant part in Leicester’s rise to supremacy and is leading the goal-scoring charts with Romelu Lukaku at 15 goals so far this season.
Vardy also scored in 11 consecutive games this season breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy’s PL record of scoring in back to back games in the process. The England international’s form has been vital for Claudio Ranieri’s men who have exceeded all expectations this season after being relegation favorites at the start of the campaign.
Leicester facing a dip in form
After their outstanding start to the season, Leicester are finally experiencing a slight dip in form. The foxes are currently winless in their last three games and have not been able to find the back of the net in the same. A 1-0 loss against Liverpool and back to back stalemates against Manchester City and AFC Bournemouth meant that Leicester did not go into the new year with the same form they had earlier displayed. The run of games without a goal is no surprise as Vardy has also faced a drought in front of goal, the 28-year-old has only scored once in his last six games.
Leicester start their cup campaign next week away at Tottenham and the weight of the competition along with the PL title race might just be too much for the foxes but anyhow they will want Vardy to be back and running if they are to remain in touching distance of glory.
