Jan Vertonghen taunts Arsenal fans on Twitter after their late collapse against Anderlecht

Jan Vertonghen taunted Arsenal for their 3-3 CL draw against Anderlecht last night

Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen sparked the fury of Arsenal fans last night by taking to Twitter and taunting their late collapse during their UEFA Champions League (CL) group stage encounter against Anderlecht.

The Gunners were leading 3-0 at the hour mark, courtesy of goals from Mikel Arteta, Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but conceded 3 goals in the matter of 29 minutes to cap off a remarkable comeback by the Belgian champions.

Vertonghen immediately took to the popular social networking site to express his glee about Arsenal’s late capitulation, but almost just as quickly was on the receiving end of abuse from ardent Arsenal supporters.

Anxious times ahead for Arsenal

Had Arsenal held on to their 3-0 lead, they would have already qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League, but will now have to wait until match day 5, where they have the anxious prospect of facing group leaders Borussia Dortmund, to seal qualification.

Last night’s result also means that Arsenal will have to beat Dortmund at home and Galatasaray away, in addition to hoping that the Jurgen Klopp-in charge German outfit lose to Anderlecht, in order to have a realistic chance of topping Group D.
