Januzaj, Lindegaard set to depart as Manchester United prepare for Anthony Martial signing

Adnan Januzaj has struggled to hold down a position in Manchester United’s starting XI

Manchester United appear to be among the busier clubs as transfer deadline day approaches. The English giants have been linked with at least 2 departures and a striker to come in for them. Adnan Januzaj and goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard are among those who are touted to leave the club on a loan move and a permanent one respectively. The incoming transfer will be slightly more exciting for United fans with the club linked to Monaco’s Anthony Martial.

The 20 time league champions have had a decent start to the season but have been slowed down greatly by their inability to score freely. They had an improved campaign las season from the one before and in a bid to have a better season this time around they went out and brought in the likes of Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin, Matteo Darmian and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

They also let go of players who didn’t seem to be performing up to the mark in the shape of Robin van Persie and Nani, also not choosing the option to convert Radamel Falcao’s loan to a permanent deal.

Incoming Anthony Martial

Martial has been given permission to travel to Manchester

The strongest indication without official confirmation from the club that the player will sign for Manchester United came from an announcement from the official French football website. According to their short post, the Monaco player who has travelled with the France national squad has been given special permission by the national team boss Didier Deschamps to travel to Manchester United.

A rough translation of the french excerpt reads: “He [Martial] requested from Didier Deschamps permission to travel to England to sign a contract with Manchester United. Given the exceptional circumstances, the coach has acceded to the request of the player.”

The 19-year-old is considered one of the hottest properties in terms of striking potential in Europe. If the Daily Mail is to be believed, Louis van Gaal’s team are willing to shell out a jaw-dropping £36 million for the youngster.

Dortmund-bound Januzaj

The Belgian has played almost regularly so far for the Red Devils but there appear to be strong indication that Van Gaal is willing to let Adnan Januzaj go to Borussia Dortmund on loan, perhaps to learn under the tutelage of Thomas Tuchel. Sky Sports believe that the 2 parties are currently in advanced talks to put the move through.

The 20-year-old joined the English club in 2011 and having started a string of games under David Moyes, he has found game-time hard to come by since the Dutch manager took over.

Anders Lindegaard to West Brom

Lindegaard could make a move to the Hawthorns on a free transfer

The custodian has spent 5 seasons at Old Trafford but now is set to bring his association with the club to an end as he appears close to signing for Tony Pulis’ West Brom, as reported by The Telegraph. A move that shouldn’t really shock too many people as the Dane hasn't played since April 2014 and is now on the verge of a free transfer.

Boaz Myhill is currently first choice at the Hawthorns and it is difficult to pinpoint whether Lindegaard could replace him in goal.
