Queens Park Rangers' Joey Barton reveals his death-threat letter from an upset Frenchman

Joey Barton when he was playing for Marseille.

Queens Rangers Park midfielder Joey Barton should be considering himself lucky since it’s very unusual to get a letter from someone who threatens to kill you before hand. Barton, who was in France for his loan spell at Ligue 1 side Marseille during the 2012/13 season, revealed the letter that he had received on Twitter.

The letter was from a very upset Frenchman who wanted Barton out of France immediately after the season while threatening that he would come after his life if Barton failed to do so. Addressed to Barton at Marseille's training ground, the letter read:

"Mr Barton.

"A little friendly advice: as soon as you finish your season in your current club, I advice you to leave France immediately.”

"In fact, if you're not left France before June 1st, I will come to you specially Marseille smash your head shots baseball bat. And then I will finish and you'll die a knife open mouth once emptied your blood b*****d.

"Do you understand? You have until June 1st to leave France and return to your country m*****f******.”

Interestingly, the purported sender decided to leave his name and address on the letter which was not a very good move to make even if you ignore his poor hold over the English grammar and his vivid imagination to threaten someone. No, ‘you'll die a knife open mouth once emptied your blood b*****d’ is not a sentence.

Barton being Barton posted the letter on this twitter account, and his reaction to the threat was unexpectedly hilarious.

This was perhaps the best response to the whole incident:
