Johan Cruyff welcomes Barcelona's move to appoint Gerardo Martino
Barcelona and Dutch legend, Johan Cruyff approved of the Catalans’s decision to hire former Paraguay coach Gerardo Martino. Cruyff, even though admitting to know very little about Martino, said he that felt coaches with less exposure and fanfare arriving at Barcelona tend to achieve more at the club. He quoted examples of former Barca managers like Pep Guardiola and Frank Rijkaard.
“I do not really know Tata. I hardly know anything about him.” He said
“However, Rijkaard and Guardiola had not won anything either before they started at Barcelona and ended up being hugely successful.”
“I have no doubt Martino can follow the same path.”
Cruyff was credited with introducing the ‘tiki taka’ style of football Barcelona have now become synonymous with.
