John Terry signs new one-year contract at Chelsea
John Terry has handed his side a huge boost with the news that he has agreed a new one-year contract at Chelsea, according to the Mirror.
Terry’s contract was due to expire this summer, alongside Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard, however, the captain of the club has reportedly put pen-to-paper on a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
The ex-England captain has become a mainstay in the Chelsea squad this season under Jose Mourinho after previously being frozen out by other managers. Terry was not favoured much under Di Matteo and became a lost figure under Rafael Benitez’s short stay at the club. However, this term the defender has formed a formidable partnership with Gary Cahill.
Terry reportedly wanted to extend his deal for longer than one-year at the club, but the Blues hierarchy have only offered the club-captain a 12-month deal in line with their club policies.
Terry has only ever played for Chelsea and he seems set to finish off his career at the club, which includes a long list of accolades.
