Former Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli jokes about a ban on MSN
Jorge Sampaoli, the ex-Chile national team coach has jokingly stated that FIFA should ban Barcelona trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar. He also compared MSN with the Real Madrid trio of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo and said that the latter are inferior.
The Argentine insisted upon the superiority of the Blaugrana trio over the Blancos trio, who are constantly being compared by the media all around the world. Facts too speak out for Messi and his teammates, they have amassed 67 goals among themselves in all competitions this term while Cristiano and his mates at Madrid have scored 60.
Sampaoli was all praises for the MSN line-up and he pinpointed the fact that their success lies in the cordial relationship that they share among themselves. The tactician thinks that the BBC trio is more individualistic, playing more for themselves than for one another.
Sampaoli jocularly said that MSN together forms a threat so great that they should not be allowed to play side by side. In an interview given to El Pais Sampaoli said,
"Fifa must intervene. The friendship between Leo, Neymar and Suarez is the worst thing that has happened to football.
"Leo alone can win a game. If, in addition, he empowers Suarez and Neymar, that is invaluable. They should ban it.
"The difference with Madrid is that Bale, Ronaldo and Benzema, their trident, do not enhance each other but are neutralised.
"If Ronaldo starts a move it ends with him, if Bale does it's the same. Benzema grabs what he can but does not create anything."
The 55-year-old guided his national team to glory in last year’s Copa America which was Chile’s first title at the international level. He was also nominated for the FIFA Coach of the Year for 2015 along with Barcelona's Luis Enrique and Bayern Munich’s Pep Guardiola. Luis Enrique bagged the accolade having guided Barcelona to five trophies last season.
Recently, Sampaoli resigned as the Chile head coach after having disputes with the recently elected President of the Football Federation of Chile(ANFP). The Argentine has also been linked with a move to Chelsea.
Sampaoli went on to say how Pep Guardiola and former Chile coach Marcelo Bielsa has influenced him,
"Guardiola is a revolutionary who trying to install his philosophy anywhere, even in Germany which is unusual. That is Pep's great triumph – he is not afraid of anything.
"He and Bielsa are the two best in the world because they make the players believe in them. They have different ideas: one is a commitment to vertical and direct play and the other starves you of possession, but both are focused on attack.
"I have teachings of both."
