Rumours: Jose Mourinho & Manchester United prepare £80 million transfer bid for Paul Pogba
Jose Mourinho hasn't even started his tenure at Manchester United as a manager but has already signed three players and said to be interested in bringing back a former club protege to the club.
Mourinho has ensured that the club are prepared for the Premier League's most competitive season yet with the signing of Eric Bailly from Villareal, Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free and the soon-to-be-official Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund.
The Portuguese manager is now interested in bringing back Paul Pogba to the club. The 23-year-old left Old Trafford – then under the stewardship of Sir Alex Ferguson – in 2012 due to the lack of playing time but has now been tapped up by the former Chelsea manager as their next big player.
Pogba, himself, has admitted that he's likely to leave Juventus this summer with his father confirming that he's looking for a more competitive league. While Real Madrid have expressed their interest by letting Zinedine Zidane and Florentino Perez publicly admit they like the Turin man, Pogba himself is said to prefer a move to Catalan giants Barcelona.
Manchester United are increasingly likely to sign the midfielder with Real Madrid yet to follow up with a serious offer. Mourinho and Executive Vice-Chairman Ed Woodward are said to be preparing an offer valued at around £80 million for the French national.
Juventus – who have since signed Miralem Pjanic – are resolved to losing the midfielder this summer but are seemingly interested in agreeing to a player-plus-cash deal. With Real Madrid, they were reportedly asking for German national Toni Kroos plus a certain amount of money.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are said to be closing in on a deal that sees Spaniard Juan Mata move to Everton. If this goes through, it'll be the second time in three years that Jose Mourinho has gotten rid of the former Valencia man.
