Jose Mourinho’s record against big Premier League clubs
Jose Mourinho, who was controversially sacked by Chelsea following a dismal start to the campaign is all set to come back to the Premier League by joining as the new manager at Manchester United, succeeding Louis van Gaal. Mourinho has several records in the Premier League that any manager would be proud to have.
For starters, he is the manager with the highest win percentage in the entire Premier League history despite having his worst season with Chelsea last season. The former Chelsea boss also holds the record for the longest unbeaten run at home of 77 games, which was broken when Sunderland beat Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
The Portuguese has also won the Premier League three times, the FA cup on one occasion, the League Cup thrice and the FA Community Shield once. Such are the records that Mourinho can boast in his CV.
The following is the record that Mourinho has against the big English clubs in the Premier League:
1) Liverpool
Mourinho has a brilliant record against Liverpool, so much so that he boasts an incredible number of wins against the Merseyside club. He has eight wins, one draw and two losses against the Reds in the league.
He famously performed a double in his first season of his second spell in charge of the London club in the 2013/14 season. The 2-0 win against Liverpool at Anfield that season denied Liverpool and captain Steven Gerrard their first ever Premier League trophy.
Mourinho won that game only due to his sheer tactical prowess while also playing a second string squad. Though all things were not rosy as the former Chelsea boss lost his last game against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge with a score line of 3-1. The loss was also his first game against Jurgen Klopp in the Premier League.
