Jurgen Klopp hails Liverpool's performance and praises Jordon Ibe

Jurgen Klopp praised Liverpool’s fighting spirit against a tough Rubin Kazan side

Jurgen Klopp’s men have got their first Europa League win after three consecutive draws in the competition. Liverpool’s new manager has hailed his team’s performance and also praised Jordon Ibe, citing him as a ‘big’ talent, according to a report on Dailymail.

The away side enjoyed majority of the possession during the game, fairly dominating Kazan in every other aspect as well, before Ibe scored in the 52nd minute with a spectacular shot. The Reds had 23 shots – 6 of which were on target, and a shot curled by James Milner in the first half hitting the woodwork.

Klopp’s first match in charge of Liverpool was the home draw against the Russian club, and he had then taken plenty of positive points away from that game. "But we don't think too much about this. Today we are together. We've had three training sessions together. It's enough," he said, clearly satisfied with his debut.

Jurgen Klopp hails the team and 19-year-old Ibe as a ‘big’ talent

An ever charismatic Jurgen Klopp praised his team’s performance by saying that he saw the conviction in his players and their desire to win.

“The first 80 minutes was really good. It was not easy to play because it was a fantastic atmosphere but the pitch is not in the same shape as the rest of the stadium,” said Klopp.

“It was not easy with possession, we could have had more and we deserved our goal and then we have to learn to win,” he added.

Klopp emphasised the significance of the victory by attributing it to the tough defensive mentality that Kazan exhibited. He also said that the pitch was not “the best”, but was quick to dismiss the negative remark by acknowledging the terrific atmosphere that night in Russia.

Klopp was evidently happy with Jordon Ibe and the commendable skill with which he secured Liverpool’s victory. The manager walked out on to the pitch after the game and hugged the 19-year-old, jubilantly.

“He is a good lad and a big talent, a very skilled player,” Klopp said about Ibe. He said that the young Englishman will have to prove himself consistently and work on his football.

“If he is prepared for this then everything will be good,” he concluded.

The Reds, who now have three consecutive wins under the German manager, must surely be a happy bunch.
