Juventus: Low-down on reported targets/acquisitions

According to the latest reports, Udinese duo Kwadwo Asamoah and Mauricio Isla are closing in on a move to current Serie A champions, Juventus.

The highly rated talents, who are considered among the most gifted players not only in Italy, but in all of Europe, are expected to be quality signings for the Old Lady who’re gunning for domestic and continental glory next season.

What can they bring to the side? How will they fit in? I’ll try to answer those questions in this blog, which I hope you’ll enjoy.

Kwadwo Asamoah

One of the most talented players in world football who’s long been eyed upon by many of Europe’s top clubs, including Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United.

The 24 year old, Ghanaian international is known for his strong physique, creativity and is dangerous when going forward. He’ll provide competition to an already talented and strong midfield consisting of the legendary Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Claudio Marchisio, all who were key in Juventus’ triumphant season who went unbeaten in the league.

I expect Asamoah to be the long term successor to the aforementioned Andrea Pirlo, and will just add more quality to this superb midfield line-up who will be going through a long, and more grueling campaign with Champions League in mind, as well as domestic competitions, so rotation will be key.

In my opinion, Juventus have grabbed a quality, talented player in Asamoah who finally gets his chance to prove himself among the elite of European football, and I’m looking forward to watching him play in the black and white stripes next season.

Mauricio Isla

The talented right back/winger’s name has been mentioned in the papers for a long while now, ever since his excellent showings with the Chilean national side in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, and the tournament itself.

Isla, also aged 24, is known for his attacking prowess, an excellent crosser and dribbler, who’s also decent when defending. His versatility will be a plus for the Old Lady and will give first choice, the excellent Stephan Lichtsteiner, tough competition but, to be honest, I expect Isla to nail down the right wing spot which is currently held by Simone Pepe; a hard-working player but of less quality.

While his other competitor, Milos Krasic, hasn’t been able to convince manager Antonio Conte of his ability, and is likely to depart this summer.

Therefore, I expect Isla to be a success with the Old Lady, and I believe the Serie A champs have gotten themselves a talented, versatile footballer in the Chilean.

With these two signings all, but likely to be nailed down for Juventus, all that’s needed is a quality striker, and if they can achieve that task, I believe they’ll be ready to roll for next season.
Cheers,
Omar
