Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio reveals Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool interest

Claudio Marchisio

Claudio Marchisio has claimed he has been the subject of a number of third-hand phone calls informing him about interest in him from top Premier League clubs, according to the Metro.

The Juventus midfielder was reported to be a transfer target for David Moyes at Manchester United in January, but no deal materialised as he remained in Italy.

The classy playmaker has suggested he is very happy playing for the current Serie A champions and has no desire to leave right now, but has said there have been enquiries from people claiming to be acting on behalf of the likes of United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Marchisio told reporters, “Sometimes I have received phone calls from agents who told me the interest of clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.

“But no-one from these clubs has ever contacted us directly.

“And in that case, I would tell them to talk to Juve.”

Marchisio still has two years left to run on his contract at Stadio Delle Alpi and is valued in excess of £20million, but talks are already underway with a view to extending his deal in Turin.

Claudio Marchisio has won 34 tackles for Juventus in Serie A this season. Only Patrice Evra (49) and Tom Cleverley (35) have won more for Manchester United this season.
