Chelsea transfer rumour: Juventus preparing big money offer for Oscar

Oscar has had a disappointing season for Chelsea

Juventus are prepared to test Chelsea’s resolve by submitting a big money bid to sign Oscar during the January transfer window, according to reports from Calciomercato.

Oscar was linked with a move to Turin earlier in the summer but new manager Antonio Conte convinced the Brazilian to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge to at least the end of this season. The crafty number 10 started first 3 league matches for the Blues but has been kept on the bench in the last few weeks.

Antonio Conte has opted to play a 3-5-2 system where Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante are the two hard tackling midfielders with Eden Hazard playing as the key attacker along with Diego Costa. Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso have established themselves as the key players in the wing back roles which has forced Oscar to witness the action from the bench.

Juventus are aware of the growing frustration on Oscar’s part and are prepared to offer the Brazilian a regular starting XI place to lure him away to the Serie A.

Do Chelsea need to sell Oscar?

Given the fierce competition of places, Conte is unlikely to give Oscar a place in his 2-man midfield as he lacks the tenacity and bite to play in central midfield. Another reason for Chelsea to sell the 25-year-old star is how Conte has trusted the likes of Nathaniel Chalobah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek ahead of Oscar in recent matches.

Conte has all but signaled an end to Oscar’s time at Chelsea and it is now between the two clubs to agree a transfer fee for the Brazilian’s exit from Stamford Bridge.

Will Oscar add value to Juventus?

The 25-year-old playmaker is a crafty player on the ball and knows his way towards the goal and likes to feed the attackers with opportunities to score. At present, Juve have the luxury of picking Claudio Marchisio and Miralem Pjanic in their midfield but they are yet to find a proper replacement for Paul Pogba, who joined United in an £89million deal earlier this summer.

While Oscar and Pogba are two completely different players, Massimiliano Allegri is looking to bring the Chelsea man to Turin to make an instant impact from the midfield and support Gonzalo Higuain in the attack. Oscar is capable of operating in a 3-4-1-2 formation where he can play in the number 10 role behind the two strikers.

According to Calciomercato, Juve will look to sign Oscar on an initial loan deal before making it permanent next summer. However, Chelsea are likely to ask for a permanent deal in January which may allow them to sign a midfield player of Conte’s liking to boost their chances of fighting for the Premier League title this season.
