Juventus renew interest in Suarez with £26m bid
Juventus have reopened talks with Liverpool to sign talismanic forward Luis Suarez.
The ‘Old Lady’ of Turin, who showed quite a bit of interest in signing both Suarez and Robin van Persie last summer, are negotiating with the Uruguayan’s agent about a possible transfer in the region of €30m (£25.6m).
Their earlier efforts yielded nothing when the Uruguayan decided to lengthen his stay at Anfield by signing a contract which would keep him at Liverpool until 2018.
According to various reports, manager Antonio Conte is a big admirer of the former Ajax hit-man and believes Suarez is the ideal strike partner for Juventus-bound Fernando Llorente, and considering the fact that the Spaniard is arriving on a free transfer, he has a good amount of money left to spend.
Beppe Marotta, the director general of Juventus, confirmed last weekend that Juventus has no interest in re-signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic because of concerns over his age, and also the wage demands, which are hard to fulfil for a club such as Juventus. Hence Luis Suarez, 26, would represent a significantly more reasonable option both in terms of age and wages.
However, from Liverpool’s point of view, any sort of approach for the Uruguayan striker could seriously derail the long-term plans of Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who this season has been largely dependent on Suarez’s talents, and who has become indispensable for the team, along with Steven Gerrard.
