Kashyap blames lack of match fitness and understanding between players
It is quite sure that this is not the start Mohun Bagan fans, officials and players have desired. After a horrible exit from the group stage of the 34th Federation Cup, Mohun Bagan has also lost their first I-League encounter against Shillong-Lajong. In between this, club officials and coach Santosh Kashyap are quite worried about the fitness level of the players.
Yesterday, after the practice session at the Saltlake stadium, Kolkata, Kasyap said, “though nobody has got a big injury but you know, some players are not 100 percent match fit. Also there was a slight misunderstanding between the players. It will take time to settle down.”
In spite of a huge number of fitness staff present in the team, questions were raised against the physical trainer Joseph and rehab specialist Jonathon Corner. Though Mohun Bagan lost their last match, it seemed that they had no intention to fight back strongly. Tolgay had got a slight injury in the Lajong match. That’s why he did not practice yesterday. On the other hand, captain Odafa Okoli got a minor injury while practicing with the team. But the good news for the Mohun Bagan fans is Syed Rahim Nabi is quite fit enough to play their next match against Prayag United.
