Toure lining up for Ivory Coast

Liverpool and Ivory Coast centre back Kolo Toure will be out of action for his country against Bosnia after picking up a bout of malaria.

The 33-year-old was visiting his family in Abidjan and was set to link up with his team mates in Dallas when he got infected.

Team doctor Cyrille Dah released a statement on the Ivorian Football Federation website saying: "Since Wednesday Kolo has been having treatment and this treatment will end on Friday. We have therefore told him to rest.

"He will not participate in the match against Bosnia-Herzegovina, but will return early next week."

Toure, who has played for Arsenal, Manchester City and now Liverpool, has been an integral part of his country’s national team and has been capped 107 times since 2000.

Ivory Coast will commence their World Cup campaign against Japan on the 14th of June after which they will face Columbia and Greece.
