La Liga 2016/17: Lionel Messi, Neymar or I will win the Golden Boot next year, says Luis Suarez
Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has made a bold claim that next year’s Golden Boot competition will be between him and his two Barcelona teammates – Lionel Messi and Neymar. Suarez was speaking after being awarded the European Golden Boot yesterday for the 2015/16 season.
The striker was presented with the trophy after scoring 40 goals in last year’s title-winning season for Barcelona.
At the best club in the world, says Suarez
The Uruguayan spoke glowingly about his team and said that team titles are more important than individual glory, "I'm at the best team in the world with the best players, if you target an individual award you can probably get it but the priority is the team winning titles."

Suarez also reserved high praise for his two fellow attackers at Barcelona and had this to say, "If I don't win it [Golden Boot] then Messi or Neymar will.” The Uruguayan also spoke about his future at the club and how he wanted to retire at Barcelona.
"I suffered a lot to make it here and I want to enjoy it and continue fighting to complete my objectives, which is to win titles. I would love to retire here, but that obliges you to stay at the top level for your whole career. But I'm not thinking about that now. There are only a few privileged enough to retire here," said the controversial striker after his Golden Boot award.
The striker had previously won the Golden Boot during his time at Liverpool in the 2013/2014 season when he scored 31 goals for the Reds.
Goals scored at Bernabeu were my favourites
On asked about the goal he loved the most from last season’s campaign, the striker gave a cheeky reply, "Of the 40 goals, my favourite is probably the two I scored at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu."
Suarez received congratulations from all corners, including from former teammate Steven Gerrard, but the most surprising greeting he received yesterday was from former rival and foe, Patrice Evra, who called the Uruguayan a great player.
