La Liga 2016/17: Luis Enrique snaps at a reporter ahead of El Clasico
FC Barcelona manager Luis Enrique took banter to a whole new level by snapping at a reporter ahead of their crucial El Clasico tie against arch-rivals Real Madrid. The coach was addressing the press in the wake of his side’s draw against Real Sociedad at the Anoeta. Enrique also shed light on the Blaugrana’s Copa Del Rey tie against Hercules tomorrow.
Speaking ahead of their round of 32 cup tie away at Hercules, Enrique was positive about the approach towards the game even when they have a bigger distraction in the form of Real Madrid on Saturday. “We will be starting a competition which brings back a lot of good memories for us. Our objective is to win the Copa Del Rey and to do that, we need to put in a good game against Hercules.”
“Any game can present complications and this one won’t be any different, but we are ready,” he added. “I’ve given some of the players a couple of days off, others, just one day. I’ll announce the squad list tomorrow morning. I’ll try to field what I consider to be the best team.”
Enrique: My squad is the best; I’m still boring
The Barcelona head coach seemed like in the mood for a bit of fun when he was asked about his team and the mood surrounding the camp ahead of the Clasico in the weekend. Enrique also made it clear that Barcelona playmaker Andres Iniesta is back in training and is expected to feature against Real.
“Andres is waiting to be given the medical all-clear but that is merely a formality because he’s training with us and he’s fit to play. He won’t play tomorrow, but he’s available for selection.”
The 46-year-old also snapped at a reporter when he was asked about his opinion on the match official, Clos Gomez, for the El Clasico. “Do I like him physically? I can’t remember if he is tall, short or if he’s blonde. Good question. The light’s on, but there’s nobody home..” he said.

Enrique also sent out his condolences to the Chapecoense tragedy, “It’s a huge blow and will require a thorough investigation. I’m deeply saddened by it and I share the pain of those who lost family members or friends.”
Barcelona will be without Jordi Alba, Samuel Umtiti and Jeremy Mathieu when they face Real Madrid at the Nou Camp on Saturday.
