Lazio President Claudio Lotito receives death threats from angry fans over Hernanes sale

Claudio Lotito, President of Lazio has received quite a few death threats.

Lazio President Claudio Lotito has been on the receiving end of numerous death threats from supporters after club favourite Hernanes was sold to rivals Inter Milan last month.

“I received between 50 to 70 to 80 telephone calls from pseudo-fans, in which they asked me to leave Lazio and made death threats against me,” said Claudio while talking to journalists. “I live under escort. The supporters are part of the club but now they have overstepped the mark.”

The fact that Lotita took a call from another angry fan while he was in the press conference is amusing.

“Who’s there?” said Lotita when he answered the phone. “It’s a Lazio supporter. He says I should leave Lazio, as soon as possible,” he pointed it out to the reporters.

“It was Hernanes’ decision to leave, so what could I do? He had an agreement with Inter. If he had stayed, he would have been unhappy,” he continued after hanging up the phone.

“He would have stayed here unhappy until June, then gone off to the World Cup, then come back for a few months and left on a free transfer.

“If you want to leave, you’ve got to say so.”

Lotito insisted that it was an imminent decision to sell the Brazilian starlet after he refused to sign a new contract with the club.

The 28-year old Brazilian instead joined Inter where he was offered a much improved contract than the one offered by Lazio.
