Leicester City 0-0 Arsenal: Player Ratings
Leicester City played out a goalless draw against Arsenal at the King Power stadium. It was a game which lacked attacking flair as both the teams struggled to trouble opposition's defences. A few stupendous saves from both the goalkeepers coupled with wayward shooting ensured that the scoreboard was left untroubled.
The draw means both the teams are locked in the bottom half of the table. Both the teams entered into the tie on the back of opening day defeats, are still looking for their first win of the season. Here are the player ratings from this stalemate in Leicester.
Leicester City
Peter Schmeichel – 8/10
The Danish stopper was really solid between the sticks. He also made few crucial saves which somehow kept Arsenal at bay.
Danny Simpson – 7/10
Simpson was impeccable with his positioning as he evened the odds against the pacey duo of Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Robert Huth – 7/10
The German defender showed exactly why he was missed at Hull last week. Solid, hard tackling and no-nonsense in his approach. It was a good return for him post the suspension.
Wes Morgan – 7/10
Leicester's captain looked at ease against puny Alexis Sanchez. He was rarely troubled by the Chilean and looked in complete control for almost the entire game.
Christian Fuchs- 6.5/10
Fuchs did well against the pace and trickery of the Arsenal wingers with a fair share of risks. It was the inability of Arsenal's wide men to capitalize the acres of space left by the buccaneering Swiss fullback.
Riyad Mahrez – 6/10
For all his tricks and flicks, Mahrez lacked accuracy in his passing, especially in the final third. It was a performance full of style but devoid of any substance.
Danny Drinkwater – 7/10
He was a perfect midfield dynamo for Ranieri's men today. He substantially improved on his redistribution in comparison to last week. Albeit he could've done a lot better with his shooting.
Nampalys Mendy - 6/10
It was a decent Premier League debut for the former OGC Nice captain. Despite having an average game, he gave us glimpses of his potential capabilities. Sadly he had to be hurled off earlier than planned due to an ankle injury.
Marc Albrighton - 6.5/10
The Englishman did put in a shift as he effectively marshalled the length of the pitch. Although he was fairly uninspiring in attacking department he made up for it with his defensive efforts by keeping Hector Bellerin in check.
Shinji Okazaki - 6/10
It was a quintessential performance by the Japanese. An industrial performance devoid of threat and potency.
Jaime Vardy - 5/10
It seems the fairytale is over and Vardy has got a reality check. Despite his graft and movement, Vardy's finishing let him down. It seems he has lost his scoring boots. Uninspiring to say the least.
Substitutes
Andy King - 6/10
The Leicester veteran did his best to maintain the tempo set by Mendy in order to trouble Arsenal on the counter. His solidity gave Drinkwater licence to attack with more freedom.
Leonardo Ulloa - 5/10
He hardly had any impact on the game. He was invisible for most of the time.
Ahmed Musa - NA
Although he brought the game to life in the dying moments, he played a big part in bringing about the most controversial moment of the game. A stray leg from Hector Bellerin seemed to have caught him inside the box. However, all Leicester’s appeal fell on deaf ears as Mark Clattenurg deemed it insufficient to warrant the defending champions a penalty.
