Leicester City Football Club have rewarded their manager Brendan Rodgers with a new five and a half years contract thus extending his current contract by a period of three and a half years. The new deal will keep the Irishman at the club till the summer of 2025.

Rodgers has worked wonders for the club as they battle it out with the top guns in the Premier League for the title. Leicester are second on the points table with 35 points after 15 games that have been played so far. The Foxes trail league leaders Liverpool by 8 points but are ahead of defending champions Manchester City by 3 points.

According to David Ornstein, Rodgers has been handed a new contract by the club because of how the Irishman has overturned the fortunes of the club in just 9 months. Moreover the contract is to fend off interest from Arsenal who are immensely interested in the services of their manager since the sacking of Unai Emery.

It is believed that the former Liverpool manager has been handed an improved contract that will see him pocket more than £5 million a year and also has led to an increases in his current release clause. The contract looks like a strategic call by Leicester City who were fearful of losing Rodgers to one of the bigger clubs.
