Leighton Baines out for a month with fractured toe, will miss Arsenal clash

Leighton Baines won’t feature until the New Year for Everton

Update: Everton manager, Roberto Martinez said on the official site: “It has been confirmed that Leighton has got a fracture in one of the bones in his right foot, which is the phalange.

“We need to treat that now and see how it develops. It could mean anything from missing six weeks to being back in 10 days because it depends how the fracture heals.

“It is in such a specific spot and we are going to see how it [the injury] reacts.”

Everton defender Leighton Baines suffered an injury during Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool, and is expected to be out of action for a month.

Baines was caught in the first half by Jordan Henderson but played on until the 50th minute when replaced by on-loan Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu.

Baines fractured a toe in his right foot and left Goodison Park on crutches. He had a scan on Saturday night but will require further tests on Monday to discover the full extent of the injury.

The left-back will now miss crucial matches against Stoke City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Fulham and Swansea City.
