Lionel Messi's annual earnings broken down

Lionel Messi’s net worth is $180 million

Media not only likes to keep an eye on his performance on the field but also off it. People are always interested to know about his personal life but most importantly also to know that how much the Argentina Captain earns.

According to Forbes as of June 2014, Messi earns <$41.7m-- through the matches he plays and $23m through his endorsements and sponsors which ultimately amounts to almost $65m in total. That’s almost $178,000 per day!

After signing a $27m deal in May, his seventh contract in 11 Years with Barcelona he extended his stay at Nou Camp till 2019 and the contract catapulted him into the list of ‘richest players’. And he is obviously a hot favourite when it comes to endorsements.

Companies like Adidas, EA Sports, Turkish Airlines and Lays have all invested heavily in Messi. Adidas came out with his signature shoe last year while Turkish Airlines paired the Barcelona forward with Basketball player Kobe Bryant, and if you are a PC game and chips lover then the latest FIFA 14 game has Messi on their cover and the Argentine also is the brand ambassador for Lays in the South American region.

Despite a face-off with the income tax authority, where he was accused of not paying his taxes, the Barcelona striker has managed to remain a big draw amongst sponsors and various other firms. Although, Messi did reportedly clear his taxes (which amounted to $6.5m).

Messi’s net worth stands currently at $180m which makes him one of the richest players in the world.

The figures are expected to increase with times to come given Messi’s current performance in 2014 FIFA World Cup and if Argentina manages to win the trophy then the 26-year-old can expect his stock to rise even more.
