Lionel Messi news: Newcastle United troll Argentina star with a cheeky tweet following their draw against Paraguay in Copa America
What's the story?
Newcastle United has trolled Lionel Messi with a hilarious tweet following Argentina's draw against Paraguay in their second match of the Copa America group stages.
In case you didn't know...
Owing to the brilliance of Lionel Messi and goalkeeper Franco Armani, Argentina managed to salvage a point from their clash against Paraguay. Richard Sanchez opened the scoring for Paraguay in the 37th minute but the heroic efforts of Messi and Armani saw the Albiceleste ending the match 1-1 at the Mineirao Stadium.
Messi equalized in the second half when Argentina was awarded a penalty kick by VAR following a handball. Later, Armani saved a penalty kick to help his team escape another humiliating defeat and exit from Copa America.
Argentina endured a 2-0 loss to Colombia in their opening fixture and they have accumulated just one point from two matches in Group B. As a result of their poor performances, they are last in their group but they can still qualify for the knockout stages if they defeat Qatar.
Qatar is currently third in the group with one point whereas Paraguay stayed second with two points. Group leaders Colombia already secured in the knockout stage with six points, thanks to another win against Qatar.

The heart of the matter
After creating plethora of chances through counter-attacks, Paraguay finally opened the scoring due to the brilliance of Miguel Almiron. Almiron went past two of Argentine defenders before providing a superb assist to Sanchez for their 37th minute opener.
Almiron plays for Newcastle United and the Premier League side took to social media to post a hilarious dig on Lionel Messi.
“A football genius and Lionel Messi.” said the Tweet.
It goes without saying that Almiron was decisive for his team against Lionel Messi and co. The player caused much trouble for Argentina's rearguard and arguably, had a better outing than the Argentine wizard.
What's next?
Argentina's fate hangs in the balance as even a win might not be enough to help them qualify to the knockout stages. They will face Qatar on Monday.
