FT: That was pretty impressive from the 18-time champions, they did quite well, admittedly against a below strength Wigan side. The youngsters in the team especially, Woodburn and Brannagan in the first half were impressive. Klopp will be happy, tough the injury to Matip will be a worry.
88’: Joel Matip goes off the field with what looks like an injury, that will be worrying for Liverpool.
85’: A lightning-quick break from Liverpool, Markovic with a lovely touch, but Ings can’t finish it off, lovely save from Nicholls.
79’: Good play from Liverpool again, Lucas to Alexander-Arnold, who can’t take the ball along with him, Ings shoots, ricochets to Kent, who handles the ball and the referee’s assistant spots it.
74’: Woodburn with another brilliant turn, runs at the defence and shoots, but it goes wide now.
72’: Another one. Great turn from Kent, puts through Woodburn, who passes it beyond the goalkeeper. He has some real potential, the 16-year-old.
70’: GOAL! Wigan give the ball way inside their half, Markovic picks it off, lobs the ball to Ings who does brilliantly to finish.
66’: Joel Matip with a brilliant run, who plays a one-two with Markovic, squares it to Markovic who passes it to Kent, his shot, again, is the wrong side of the post.
63’: Lucas!! Lucas with another brilliant run into the box, but his shot just trickles beyond the far post. Is he doing to score two in a week?
61’: Klopp looks pretty relaxed on the touchline
58’: Neat build up play by Liverpool, Lucas goes forward but is caught offside from the pass from Woodburn, he fancies scoring again, doesn’t he?
54’: Wigan are feeling the pace here just a bit, Liverpool are absolutely bossing it here, the 16-year-old Woodburn has shown a couple of really good touches.
53’: Ings industriously gets a shot away after some neat build up play which involved Illori and Markovic.
51’: Liverpool have started the second half well, they have literally camped inside the Wigan box.
49’: Lovely ball by Lucas to Ings, his first touch was average, he takes it a bit too wide, but tests the goalkeeper.
48’ Danny Ings with a brilliant ball, he drops in and picks out a wonderful ball.
45’: Changes changes changes!! Wisdom, Ilori, Woodburn, Markovic, Kent, Alexander-Arnold, Lucas, and Ings are in.
HT: It’s been mostly one-way traffic, Coutinho has hit the bar twice, Brannagan has been brilliant on the ball. Wigan, have done their bit too, they have defended their box decently, not allowing through balls into Firmino. There’ll be most likely a few changes for the second half.
44’: Lovely turn in the box by Ejaria, but can’t find any of his teammates, and crosses the ball straight into the arms of the grateful Nicholls.
42’: What a turn by Coutinho, he then stylishly passes the ball to Mane, who can’t beat Nicholls. Good save by the keeper, but Coutinho tries again from the edge of the box, this time a much easier save by Nicholls.
39’: Chance for Ejaria, but the 18-year-old’s shot is blocked by the Wigan defenders, Liverpool for the first time in the game pinched the ball high up on the Wigan side of the pitch.
36’: A great ball by Flores, Yanic reaches the ball but the cross that eventually comes into the box is collected easily by Karius.
32’: Wigan have grown into the game here, they are keeping the ball decently, and Yanic goes past Randall but can’t put a good ball into the box.
30’: Karius was too calm on the ball there, that would have been embarrassing, Samni almost makes it to the ball for a tap-in. The ghost of Mignolet eh?
27’: The pace of the game has dropped down a touch again, suits Wigan, they are able to get bodies behind the ball.
23’: Controversial! Karius seemed to handle the ball outside his box there, but the appeals were turned down by the referee.
22’: Lovely play by the Brazilian boys again, Coutinho with the shot, but this time it goes over the bar.
19’: Brannagan with a lovely ball in from the free kick, Matip gets up to head the ball, but just head over. That was close too.
14’: Liverpool are turning on the after burners here, Firmino picks up the ball and stands it up at the bak post, Coutinho shimmies to his left and pulls the trigger, but hits the framework again. Close!
12’: Firmino with a wonderful touch with the outside of his boot to take him beyond the right back, crosses it, Coutinho tries to flick the ball, but goes behind for a corner.
10’: Lots of possession for Liverpool, nothing too threatening yet, but Wigan have stopped Liverpool from playing breaking play up with fouls.
7’: Brannagan has been bright till now, he seems to be one of those busy players, always wanting the ball, always looking to pick out a pass.
4’: Coutinhoooooo! What a freekick from the edge of the box, but unfortunately the ball hits the crossbar and is cleared out of the danger area. That freekick came from a lovely turn from Mane.
1’: Wigan have started the game well, the Wigan players are pressing the ball high and have had most of the ball so far.
0’: The Will Grigg is song is on the stands, and Wigan get us underway in Blue.
We are ready for kick off, the players make their way to the pitch. It’ll be interesting to see the chemistry between Lovren and Matip, and obviously the very exciting front three of Mane, Coutinho, and Firmino.

Dejan Lovren is captaining the men from Merseyside. New boy Grujic is down with a virus, and Moreno and Smith miss out with minor injuries. Match Preview
The mighty Liverpool take on Wigan for their former's third pre-season game at the DW stadium. Wigan having played a game yesterday at their home against Manchester United, which incidentally was the first game for the former Porto manager.
Liverpool come into the game on the back of an impressive win against Fleetwood, where Grujic scored his first goal for the club, Lucas scored a rare goal, youngster Woodburn scored with a tap in and it was all capped off by a brace from the ever impressive Roberto Firmino.
Wigan lost yesterday's two games to nil against the FA Cup champions, and it is likely manager Gary Caldwell will go with a totally different line-up, as most of his players who played against Manchester United completed the match. New signing Nick Powell came on against his former club Manchester United and tried his best to jump into each and every tackle.
For Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, it will another chance to integrate his new signings into the team, with all the new signings Sadio Mane, Loris Karius, Joel Matip and Marko Grujic starting in the game against Fleetwood. There will also be a few very promising youngsters on show, who are being introduced to the first team by the former Dortmund manager.
Match Prediction:
There looks to be only one winner on this one, Liverpool. They were impressive in their last game and will most likely brush aside a Wigan team which just played a game yesterday. But, pre-season is all about the signs, and both teams will look to make an impression.
