Liverpool 0-1 Nottingham Forest: Reds Player ratings as they fall to their first defeat of the Arne Slot era

Liverpool fell to their first defeat in the Arne Slot era against a Nottingham Forest side claiming their first win at Anfield in the Premier League era. The hosts held on to more of the ball, claiming 70% of the possession, but lacked the fortune to convert at home on Saturday, September 14.

However, Forest played a masterful game, leaving Anfield with a win for the first time in over five decades. Callum Hudson-Odoi came off the bench in the 54th minute and scored in the 72nd minute to give the visitors all three points.

The Reds will hope to have better luck in their next game, where they face AC Milan at San Siro on September 17 in the UEFA Champions League.

Liverpool player ratings:

Alison Becker - 7.5/10

The Brazilian had a decent game besides picking the ball out of the back of his net. He made two saves in the game and had a respectable pass accuracy of 16 out of 19 attempts in his 22 touches.

Andy Robertson - 6.5/10

The Scottish defender did not have his best game for Liverpool today as he failed to make an impact. He was impressive with his passing, completing 41/44 passes but didn't do much else.

Virgil van Dijk- 8/10

The Dutch defender had a fine performance despite his side's loss. He completed 92 passes, made six clearances, and five recoveries in the heart of Arne Slot's defense from 124 touches.

Ibrahima Konate - 8/10

The Frenchman was a solid partner for van Dijk in the Liverpool defense. The 25-year-old made five recoveries and four clearances before he was taken off in the 75th minute.

Trent Alexander-Arnold- 7/10

The English fullback had an unspectacular 90-minute exercise for Liverpool in this game. The 25-year-old lost possession thrice and won it back four times while only winning two out of four tackles.

Ryan Gravenberch - 7.5/10

The Dutch midfielder looked great in Arne Slot's team yet again but was unable to do enough to at least see the points split. The former Bayern Munich midfielder was not dispossessed and made eight recoveries and completed 63/72 passes with his 89 touches of the ball.

Dominik Szoboszlai -7/10

The Hungarian midfielder had a decent game for Liverpool in front of Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis MacAllister. The former RB Leipzig star completed two out of three dribbles and made four recoveries. However, the nominal No. 10 did not create much with his 74 touches on the pitch, boasting an xG + xA of 0.24.

Alexis MacAllister- 7/10

The 2022 World Cup winner could not do enough to provide a platform to turn a narrow defeat into at least a draw. The Argentine midfielder tested the keeper once and made four recoveries while completing 43/46 passes with his 58 touches.

Luis Dias-7/10

The Colombian was part of a profligate Liverpool attack that failed to find the back of the net against opposition from the lower half of the table. He managed only one shot (off target) and had an xG + xA of 0.08 and hit the woodwork once.

Mohamed Salah- 7/10

Mohamed Salah could not salvage something for Arne Slot's side in their home defeat today. He had a passing accuracy of 70% and managed an xG = xA of 0.24 in his 90 minutes on the pitch.

Diogo Jota - 6.5/10

Diogo Jota was not impressive for Liverpool today. The Portuguese forward led the line for Arne Slot's side but only managed one shot on target. He misplaced 46% of his 13 passes in his time on the pitch.

The Uruguayan came on for 30 minutes but could not change the game or make an impact. He managed just eight touches in that time and lost half of his six passes.

The youngster came on for 30 minutes and did not have an impact on the game following his introduction. The Northern Irishman completed 15/19 passes and made three recoveries.

Cody Gakpo- 6/10

The Dutchman came on for 30 minutes but did not help the Liverpool attack kick into gear.

Konstantinos Tsimikas- 6/10

The defender was brought on by Arne Slot with 15 minutes to go but could influence little with his 15 touches for Liverpool in their first loss of the season.

Curtis Jones- 6/10

The midfielder came on and completed seven out of eight passes without contributing much else in the game.
