Liverpool 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur: Player ratings
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur played out one of the matches of the season with the final quarter of the game providing more twists and turns than a full-fledged suspense movie. Finally, honours were shared with the score being tied 2-2 at the final whistle.
Mohamed Salah scored a brace for the Reds whereas Victor Wanyama and Harry Kane rescued a point for Spurs. It was a game of two halves with Liverpool dominating the first and Spurs cruising in the second when the visitors received two penalties. On that note, here is a look at how each player performed from the exhilarating match at Anfield:
Tottenham Hotspur
Hugo Lloris: 5/10
Lloris dived way too early for the first goal but had no chance for the second. His distribution was poor in the first half but other than the goal, Lloris did not have much to do in the second interval.
Kieran Trippier: 6/10
Trippier was again solid on the night and never looked second best against Sadio Mane. Though he failed to have an attacking influence as he had against Manchester United, Tripper still managed to impress with his defensive work.
Davinson Sanchez: 4/10
The 21-year-old has adjusted brilliantly to the struggles of the Premier League. But at Anfield, Sanchez looked devoid of confidence. His decision making was questionable along with his passing throughout the match.
Jan Vertonghen: 7/10
Vertonghen had to cover for Sanchez on some occasions and was up for the task. He made some crucial blocks and was the defensive player that kept Spurs composed in possession.
Ben Davies: 5/10
The right-back had a tough night in handling Mohamed Salah who got the better of Tripper on crucial junctures. His attacking output was decent but failed to stamp his authority in defence. He was also lucky not to pick a booking for a string of fouls.
Eric Dier: 5/10
Dier inadvertently played Salah on for the first goal and looked extremely casual for the first 45 minutes. He improved in the second half but always looked like a liability on the ball.
Moussa Dembele: 6/10
Just as the game at Anfield, Dembele had a tale of two halves. The Belgian was disappointing in the first, losing possession and getting bypassed easily. But Dembele was brilliant in the second half and carried his team forward effectively. He also had an eventful battle with Emre Can throughout the match.
Dele Alli: 6/10
Alli looked lost in the first half but a change in position meant that he was back at his best for the second. It was his through ball that earned his side the first penalty with his link-up play being top notch after the break. He did receive a booking for diving which was his third caution in his career for simulation.
Christian Eriksen: 5/10
Eriksen failed to have the desired impact on the proceedings with Liverpool closing him down on a high number of occasions. A rare off day for the Dane!
Heung Min Son: 6/10
Son worked hard for the team and had a brilliant chance to score a goal in the second half. He worked hard for the team and as always, produced a decent performance.
Harry Kane: 5/10
Kane had the fewest touches for any outfield player in the first half. He was largely anonymous on the night and also took a tame penalty on the first instance. The Englishman did not fail on the second attempt and ultimately scored his 100th Premier League goal.
Substitutions
Erik Lamela: 6/10
The Argentine's biggest contribution was winning the second penalty in stoppage time. He went down far too easily on Van Dijk's contact.
Victor Wanyama: 8/10
An instant impact from the bench! Wanyama arrived on the field and scored a stunning pile-driver from 25 yards to silence the Kop and score the all-important equalizer.
Fernando Llorente: N/A
Llorente came on in stoppage time and barely had a touch of the ball.
