Liverpool £20m target Lovren wants Anfield switch
Liverpool target Dejan Lovren wants to leave Southampton and move to Anfield after admitting that his “head is already at Liverpool”. The Reds who have already signed Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana from the Saints are reportedly interested in bringing the 25-year-old Croatian to Anfield.
The Reds already had a bid of £20m rejected by the Saints, who are in no mood to sell yet another key player in a summer that has already seen several key members of their squad depart for pastures new. The Croatian centre half, who only joined the club last summer from Lyon, is keen to force his way out of the club after stating that he has no intention of staying at St Mary’s.
Speaking to Croatian website Sportske novosti, Lovren said: “Liverpool sent a £20m offer and they [Southampton] paid £9m for me, so they would’ve earned twice the amount.”
The Croatian also added: “At this point, I don’t know what I’ll do and I don’t like it. It was unbelievable that a few days ago I had an offer of 20 million pounds. It was in the morning and by the afternoon the club had said I was not for sale. Frankly, my head is already at Liverpool.”
Lovren admitted that he was disappointed by the club’s conduct and revealed that he isn’t going to stay there much longer. “Liverpool sent the offer and the club haven’t informed me. I found out about the bid from other people which disappointed me and I realized I’ve got no business staying at Southampton.”
