Liverpool 4-1 West Ham United: Player Ratings

Liverpool v West Ham United - Premier League
Liverpool put in a commanding performance last night at Anfield

Liverpool (Can 29', Salah 51', Firmino 57', Mane 77') 4-1 West Ham United (Antonio 59')

Liverpool were at their dominant best at Anfield as they blew away a clueless West Ham side to climb into the second position in the Premier League. Goals from Can, Salah, Firmino, and Mane settled the contest while Michail Antonio grabbed a consolation goal for the Hammers.

David Moyes had another frustrating afternoon at Anfield as the Reds put in an eye-catching performance and were rarely troubled defensively. Without much ado, let us take a look at the player ratings for both West Ham United and Liverpool.

West Ham United

Adrian
Adrian had a tough afternoon

Adrian - 5/10

The West Ham shot-stopper was not at his best last night. He could have been better positioned for Can's first goal while his poor kick led to Firmino's goal. Although he did make a couple of saves from Mane, Adrian like the rest of his backline would like to move on from this performance quickly.

Aaron Cresswell - 4/10

The boyhood Liverpool fan was given a torrid time by Salah. Playing as the left-sided defender in a back 3, he was often left chasing shadows as =the brilliant Egyptian got behind him time and again with his clever runs.

James Collins - 5/10

The veteran centre-back fought gamely against Liverpool's terrific trio, but the pace of the game was a bit too much for him last night. He cut a frustrated figure in the end.

Angelo Ogbonna - 6/10

The Italian defender was not directly at fault for any of the goals and was arguably West Ham's best centre-back last night. However, he did give the likes of Mane, Firmino, and Salah too much space to operate and was a bit too slow in closing them down.

Patrice Evra - 5/10

The former Manchester United man had an extremely tough afternoon constantly tracking back to keep an eye on both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah. In his debut for West Ham, Evra was constantly harried and troubled and although he made a few good forward runs in the beginning, he was largely unnoticeable.

Pablo Zabaleta - 6/10

The former Manchester City man fought on gamely and made a few enterprising runs which troubled the Liverpool defence. He was decent going forward but his positioning sense during defending allowed Liverpool to carve out chances with ease.

Mark Noble - 5/10

The West Ham captain made a few last-ditch tackles and tried to add some bite to the Hammers midfield. However, creatively he did nothing to influence the game.

Cheikhou Kouyate - 6/10

Ran around energetically throughout the match but was more often than not bested by the likes of Milner and Can. The West Ham man assisted Antonio's goal as well and was one of the better performers last night.

Manuel Lanzini - 4/10

Coming back into the side after a spell out with injury, Lanzini struggled to get into the game and did nothing of note. He was subbed off in the 58th minute for Michail Antonio.

Joao Mario - 5/10

The Portuguese midfielder tried to create things for his team, but he was marshaled excellently by the likes of Matip and Van Dijk. He looked good when he was afforded time on the ball, but he struggled to find space and pull the strings for his team. He was subbed in the 83rd minute.

Marko Arnautovic
Arnautovic was unlucky to not get a goal last night

Marko Arnautovic - 7/10

The mercurial Austrian was easily West Ham's best player last night. He caused a lot of problems to the Liverpool defence in the first half and was unlucky to hit the bar with a beautiful chip.
