Liverpool have suffered some squad disharmony ahead of their crucial clash against Chelsea on Sunday, after Luis Suarez and Martin Skrtel had a training ground bust up, as per reports and pictures in this morning’s Daily Mail.

Liverpool host Chelsea at Anfield in the knowledge that avoiding defeat will put them in a perfect position to land their first league title in 24 years, with the Reds currently sitting top of the table with three games remaining.

Rodgers only recently praised the maturity shown by Suarez this season after his misdemeanours of the past, but the Uruguayan took exception to the approach Skrtel was taking to training, believing him not to be taking the drill in a serious manner and slapping him in the face.

Skrtel reportedly used his arm to keep the ball in play in a routine training session, but with Liverpool so tantalisingly close to success, the striker was unhappy with the jovial way the Slovakian centre-back had adopted to the drill directly before a huge game in the title race and thrust his palm into his teammates face.

The pair have both enjoyed fine seasons individually to become key players in Liverpool’s surprise title bid, with Suarez having bounced back from his suspension to score 30 goals, while Skrtel has chipped in with seven himself to become the Premier League’s top scoring defender.

Brendan Rodgers will hope that this incident will not affect the squad in a detrimental way, as they know victory over Chelsea will essentially leave Liverpool as Champions for the first time in the Premier League era.

Martin Skrtel has made 402 clearances for Liverpool this season, more than any other player in the Premier League.
