Liverpool hold crisis boardroom talks to decide Luis Suarez stance

Liverpool and Uruguay striker Luis Suarez is in the news for biting an opponent again.

Liverpool are to hold crisis talks at boardroom level today as they discuss what to do about Luis Suarez.

The striker has courted controversy yet again after he appeared to bite Italy defender Georgio Chiellini during Uruguay’s 1-0 victory that saw Uruguay progress to the next round of the World Cup alongside Costa Rica whilst sending Italy out.

The Mirror report that the club’s executives will speak to manager Brendan Rodgers in a trans-Atlantic conference meeting to discuss the future of Suarez.

The report suggests that the club are not willing to back the player for a third time after two other incidents when he was banned for racially abusing Patrice Evra of Manchester United and bit Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic.

FIFA have said they will investigate the incident and if found guilty Suarez could face a lengthy ban.

Liverpool will be powerless if FIFA decide it is to be a global football ban as opposed to just an international one but at the moment the club remain the dark over whether or not this would be the case.

No player scored more goals than Luis Suarez (31) across Europe’s top five leagues last season.
