Liverpool dealt blow as first-team duo unlikely to be available for Chelsea clash after missing training - Reports
Alexis Mac Allister and Konstantinos Tsimikas are unlikel to be available when Liverpool will take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, October 20.
As per The Anfield Talk, Mac Allister was pictured in the gym session but he wasn't with his colleagues who were part of the full training session.
This report comes on the back of the just-concluded international break, with Mac Allister playing 65 minutes in Argentina's 6-0 win over Bolivia.
Mac Allister has been an important part of Liverpool's midfield in recent times. He has featured in all of Liverpool's games in the ongoing 2024-25 campaign.
Hence, his potential absence could be a big blow in the midfield for the Reds, given his ability to stabilize the midfield.
On the other hand, Tsimikas featured as a substitute in Greece's 2-0 win against Ireland in the UEFA Nations League last weekend.
Tsimikas can also be seen as a pivotal player, as he has featured at left-back in seven games for the Reds so far.
However, Andrew Robertson is the first-choice left-back option and its expected that he would start at left-back against Chelsea.
As such, while the possibility of the duo missing the clash against Chelsea is a big blow, other players are expected step up.
Liverpool are the current leaders in the Premier League standings, having registered 18 points from seven games. Chelsea currently occupy the fourth spot, having secured 14 points, also from seven league games.
This clash would be an interesting one as both teams haven't been defeated in their last five games across all competitions.
Alisson Becker's absence could affect Liverpool against Chelsea
Liverpool would be without their first-choice goalkeeper in the clash against Chelsea as Alisson is currently recovering from a hamstring injury. Given his importance in goal, it can be stated that his absence could affect the Reds.
Alisson has featured in eight games across all competitions for the Reds this season, and he has kept five clean sheets. Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to feature in goal for the Reds.
However, the Reds defense would have to be solid if they intend to secure all three points in this clash.
