Liverpool manager will have to wait
Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool manager, will have no choice but to wait and see if Wesley Sneijder will accept his £6 million bid to bring the Dutchman to Anfield.
Turkish giants, Galatasaray, are offering Sneijder an more lucrative deal that is close to his current salary. The Turkish side are ready to offer him £6.5 million a year, which is far from what the Merseyside can afford.
Representatives of the player have indicated that a move to English football would be preferred, but there are a number of obstacles to be overcome before signing with Liverpool. Apart from the issue of his salary, Sneijder’s age might also prove to be an issue. The idea of signing the Dutchman, who is now 28, would go against the club’s current transfer policy to sign youngsters. Although Liverpool insists that the policy is not “set in stone”, signing the veteran would still make him one of the top earners in the club.
Signing Sneijder, as thrilling as it may be for Brendan Rodgers, would attract interests from other Premier League sides, and Liverpool would have to face stiffer competition to sign him.
