Liverpool and Newcastle set to battle it out for striker Andre Ayew

Andre Ayew

Marseille forward Andre Ayew is set for a £10 million transfer in January with Liverpool and Newcastle reported to be interested, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Ghanian has been out of form for Marseille so far this season as the club struggles for consistency in both Ligue 1 and and the Champions League.

They are bottom of their Champions League group that includes Arsenal, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund, and look ready to cash in on one of their prized assets.

Ayew has 18 months left on his current contract and Marseille believe this would be the perfect opportunity to offload the striker and reinvest the proceeds in the team.

The French club want to avoid a situation where Ayew can run down his contract and leave for free in 18 months’ time, and are willing to listen to any offers for the player.

Ayew has been in dreadful form for Marseille with just two goals in ten games so far in the domestic campaign, with a poor 55 per cent shot accuracy rating letting him down in front of the net.
