Liverpool & Spurs warned off Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a major blow in their transfer plans this summer, as Barcelona have issued a ‘hands off’ warning to any club interested in buying Alexis Sanchez.
Liverpool had been linked with an £18million bid for Sanchez as Brendan Rodgers looked to bolster his attacking options again, while Spurs had also displayed an interest in the Chilean attacker after reports surfaced that he wished to leave for a club that valued him more than Barca, after finding his first team appearances to be inconsistent.
Juventus were believed to be at the head of the queue as they looked to bring Sanchez back to Italy following a successful spell with Udinese, but Barcelona have now claimed they have no intention of letting the Chilean forward leave and fully expect him to be at the Nou Camp next season.
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu told reporters, “He (Sanchez) is not for sale.
“He has a contract with us and is an important part of the squad.
“Sanchez has had a great season and, of course, will be a part of Barcelona next season as well.”
