Rumour: Liverpool striker Luis Suarez’s lawyer flies to Barcelona

Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez’s lawyer Alejandro Balbi is due to fly to Barcelona on Friday in order to discuss the striker’s plight with Liverpool officials, according to the Daily Mail.

The Uruguayan’s future in England has been thrown into disarray following the lengthy ban he has received from FIFA for biting Giorgio Chiellini during his country’s 1-0 victory over Italy at the World Cup.

Football’s world governing body has ordered that Suarez is to be banned from nine international games and he will also be unable to partake in all footballing activity for four months.

Although Uruguay and Suarez’s representatives have claimed that the punishment is largely due to a witch hunt led by the English media, the news is a significant blow for his club side Liverpool, who will be unable to call on his services until November.

The Merseysiders are yet to reveal their intentions in regards to Suarez’s situation but they appear to be keen to resolve the issue by meeting by Balbi. The striker is allowed to appeal his sentence, so the two parties could well be discussing a plan to attempt to engineer a reduced penalty for the offence.

However, having stood by Suarez through countless misdemeanours the Premier League outfit could yet have decided to sell their prize asset, with Real Madrid and Barcelona reportedly keen on his signature regardless of his latest bout of indiscipline.

Luis Suarez will have missed 32 games for Liverpool due to indiscipline since his arrival in 2011 following the completion of his latest ban.
