Liverpool Transfer Rumour: Jurgen Klopp ready to offer £25m for Mahmoud Dahoud
Liverpool has stepped up their pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud. The Reds have reportedly sent scouts to watch the midfielder during Gladbach’s 4-0 loss against Manchester City last Wednesday in the Champions League.
The Merseyside club was linked with the player through the summer, but Dahoud stayed at Gladbach as the Reds did not manage to reach an agreement with the Bundesliga club. The player is still a primary target for the Reds hence; Liverpool is now preparing to launch a fresh bid for the player in January. The Reds are reportedly willing to pay an amount close to £25m for the midfielder.
Dahoud joined Gladbach in 2010 at the age of 14, having spent his earlier years at Germania Reusrath and Fortuna Dusseldorf. Subsequently, he spent the following five years at Gladbach academy, before he was given his first team debut by the then manager Lucien Favre in 2014, during the Europa League playoff. The player became the first Syrian-born player to play in the Bundesliga. Dahoud saw his game time increase at Gladbach following the sacking of Lucien Favre in 2015-2016 Bundesliga season.
Dahoud previously represented Germany at U-18 and U-19 level, he went on to make his debut for Germany at U-21 level on 24 March 2016 from the bench during the match against Faroe Island. He made his full International debut at U-21 level, during the match against Russia a week later.

Although Gladbach suffered a heavy defeat against Manchester City on Wednesday, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keen on signing the player in January.
Dahoud’s contract at Monchengladbach is set to expire in 2018. His current deal reportedly includes a release clause of £8.3m which can be activated only in the start of 2017-2018 season. In August 2016, reports of the 20-year-old refusing to sign a new contract at Gladbach emerged, which attracted the attentions of the likes of Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain. However, Gladbach were reluctant to let go of their most promising young talents.
Liverpool had a remarkable summer as manager Jurgen Klopp prepared for his first full season at the Anfield. However, the German manager is not done yet as he looks forward to his shopping spree in the January transfer window. The Reds manager will try to bring in Dahoud and Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund with Klopp keen to work with both the players.
