Rumour: Liverpool will not sell Luis Suarez to Barcelona for less than £80m
Liverpool will not sell star striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona for less than £80 million, according to the Independent.
Suarez, who has been banned from all football activity for four months, meaning he will miss training and matches with Liverpool until November. Despite that, Barcelona remain interested in the striker who scored 31 goals in the Premier League last season – 10 more than anyone else, but reports claim that the Reds are unwilling to part with their superstar for less than £80m.
It has been a surreal week for Liverpool, who finished second in the league last season thanks to Suarez’s performances, but seeing their star player involved in a biting incident for the third time in his career, followed by the lengthy ban, will be hard to stomach for the Reds.
Interest from Barcelona must now be more appealing than it ever has been but the are standing firm on their price-tag for the Uruguayan and will look to set a world record transfer fee to let him leave Anfield this summer.
Real Madrid are also in contention for Suarez’s signing but reports in Spain claim that the European champions are looking at Monaco’s Falcao as an alternative, which could put Barcelona in the driving seat for Suarez’s signature.
