Liverpool’s Luis Suarez has already scored 30 goals this season in the EPL

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is set to be named PFA Player of the Year this evening at the awards ceremony in London but Chelsea players will not be attending.

Suarez has scored 30 goals in the Premier League this season and has been magnificent as Liverpool have gone from potential top four challengers to top of the league with a couple of games to go.

Despite Liverpool’s slip up against Chelsea this afternoon, Suarez is set to go to London and will pick up the Player of the Year award, as voted for by his fellow professionals, according to the Mirror.

And as Suarez picks up the award, Chelsea players will not be at the ceremony as their manager Jose Mourinho has banned them from attending due to a huge game later this week. The Blues play in their second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night after a goalless first leg.

Mourinho rested a couple of players at Anfield and got the result he was looking for but now must keep his players focussed for the challenge in midweek.

Mourinho’s actions are in stark contrast to that of Brendan Rodgers, who has sanctioned a major night out for his squad.

The players and their wives will fly to London on a private plane this evening.
