Reports: Liverpool’s Luis Suarez set to complete Barcelona move in 48 hours

Suarez close to complete Barcelona move

Liverpool forward Luis Suarez is poised to complete his move to Spanish giants Barcelona within the next 48 hours, report the Daily Mail.

The 27-year-old is valued at £80 million but a fee for the proposed transfer is yet to be revealed.

However, the Spanish giants are now believed to have focused their efforts into negotiating a straight cash deal for the Uruguayan despite widespread reports that Alexis Sanchez would be used as a makeweight in the deal.

Meanwhile, FIFA have confirmed that Suarez will be allowed to complete a medical despite the fact he is currently banned from all footballing activity for four months after he was found guilty of biting Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.

The lengthy ban looked set to have to have put the Catalans in a strong bargaining position after Suarez apologised for his actions, but given that the striker penned a long term contract with the Merseysiders as recently as the end of last year they have accepted that he will not be available on the cheap.

Kop chief Brendan Rodgers will understandably be disappointed that Suarez will leave Anfield given his importance to the northern Irishman’s team but a close to world record fee will allow him to pursue targets of his own before the season begins.

That said, he will struggle to find a player of Suarez’s calibre capable of leading his front line.
