Liverpool’s season depends on Luis Suarez’s future, says Gerrard

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted that their season depends on the future of Luis Suarez according to BBC.

If Suarez is allowed to leave this summer the club will be taking a step back according to skipper Gerrard. The England international described the Uruguayan international as the best player he has ever played with and is determined to see the 26-year-old stays at Anfield despite interest from both Arsenal and Real Madrid.

Liverpool have recently received a club record bid from Arsenal, the bid of £40 million plus £1 was swiftly rejected as the Reds look keen to keep hold of their prize assets.

The captain has urged the Uruguayan to remain at Liverpool and if the time comes and Suarez wants to leave then he should only consider signing for Barcelona or Real Madrid. Gerrard also believes an in-form Suarez will make a difference to any club, especially Liverpool as they chase that all important Champions League place.

“I’ve spoken to Luis loads and of course I’m trying to get him to stay,” Gerrard told the Liverpool Echo. “If we lose him then the challenge becomes even more difficult for Liverpool. It’s that simple.”

Suarez scored 30 goals in 44 appearances for Liverpool last season; The Uruguayan international wants to leave Liverpool to play Champions League football.
