Luis Enrique believes Neymar deal is the best for everyone
Luis Enrique is very pleased with the decision taken on Neymar’s participation in the Copa America. The Brazilian will be representing his country in the Olympics in Rio this year but it has been agreed upon by the club and country that he will not take part in the Copa America to be held in the summer.
There was a lot of debate over the issue, with the Brazil federation wanting him to be a part of both tournaments but according to Enrique a mutual agreement was reached over the matter and he will not play in the US.
“It's a decision agreed by all parties. Everyone was looking out for the best for the player, although [Neymar], evidently, is eager to represent his country - which is logical and normal.” Enrique said during a press conference.
The Brazil Federation apparently reached an agreement with Barcelona despite them wanting Neymar to play for them. “But in the end, all parties reached this agreement and I think it's fantastic, correct, the best for the club, the best for the player and the best for the Brazilian national team,”
Enrique denies Dani Alves controversy
Dani Alves puzzled many and even angered some with his weird social media post on Sunday. The player wore a long-haired wig and in the video he spoke in a high-pitched voice saying the words, “Football is only a game!”
The right-back then missed a training session the very next day and many speculated it was due to his antics but Enrique denies any link between the two events saying,”I don't have to protect him. We have perfect supporters that always support us. My decisions aren't a function of other things.”
Barcelona arrested their slump after losing three games in a row by destroying Deportivo La Coruna 8-0. Luis Suarez got back to his lethal best scoring four with Lionel Messi and Neymar also getting on the scoresheet.
Enrique was happy with his team’s performance and is hoping Barcelona can keep the momentum going. “It was a perfect result that reinforces our current moment and comes at a good time. Let's hope to uphold that in the four remaining rounds,” said the manager.
