Luis Ronaldo says Cristiano Ronaldo is better than Lionel Messi and Neymar
Brazillian legend Luis Ronaldo who played for both Barcelona and Real Madrid during his glorious career was recently asked to choose between Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar as to who is the best player in the world at the moment. The former Real Madrid striker said it was tough to choose from the three but finally went for his namesake at Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo.
“They are three great players. I would also include Luis Suarez as he is playing very well. This is the most common question in all interviews; I don't know if it is just for me or for everyone, but when we ask this question we forget that they are three great players,” said the 40-year-old Brazillian legend.
“It is so difficult to choose just one as the best. They are very, very good. At the moment I will choose Cristiano as he is playing for Real Madrid but we cannot forget how good Messi and Neymar are. We must respect these players for the entertainment they bring us,” added El Phenomenon.

Luis Ronaldo was himself a legend for both Barcelona and Real Madrid, but more so in the capital city of Spain as he spent five seasons at the Bernabeu between 2002 and 2007. The striker had issues related to fitness and form towards the end of his time in Madrid. He also had some issues with Fabio Capello which was well publicised in the media. “Capello was not the smartest,” joked Ronaldo when asked about his relationship with his former boss.
Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Cristiano Ronaldo shared the podium during the last FIFA Ballon d’Or ceremony when Lionel Messi came out on top with the coveted prize for the fifth time in his career. However, it looks like Cristiano Ronaldo will be the favourite to bag the prize this year after his exploits with club and country this summer. He faces stiff competition from Antoine Griezmann, Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale.
While Ronaldo led Portugal to European glory, he also enjoyed success in the Champions league with his club. Gareth Bale also won the Champions League while he was fantastic for the Welsh in the Euros. Griezzmann was unlucky to lose out to Ronaldo in both the Champions League and Euro finals but has been one of the standout players this year leading his club and country into two finals.
Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi won two trophies each with Barcelona while Messi lost out on the Copa America in the summer which puts him on the back foot in the race for the Golden Ball. However, both Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi have been in blistering form this year and top the goalscoring and assist charts in Europe.
